Painting with a Purpose for Texas Exes Denton County

January 20 2015

Saturday, January 24, 4-6pm This event is open to everyone! Please join the Texas Exes Denton County, a local chapter of the alumni association of the University of Texas at Austin, for fun fellowship, community service, and to help fund scholarships. Open to all Longhorns & fans of UT. We welcome new members! At our Painting with a Twist event, we will be painting "Texas Love". What better way to show how we feel about our great state and its "university of the first class", as UT is described in the Texas Constitution of 1876. We look forward to having fun with a purpose, that being to raise scholarship funds for Denton County high school seniors entering the University next fall. That little extra in your ticket purchase goes a long way when we all join together for the benefit of deserving students. Open to the public and everyone is welcome! So whether you're a Texas Exes member or you just love Texas and want to create this painting, please come share in a real good time for a real good cause. We'll be glad to see y'all there. Painting with a Purpose for Circle of Friends

January 17 2015

Saturday, January 24 7-10pm The Circle of Friends Club exists to create an environment for all students with disabilities and the general student population to bring an understanding and acceptance of differences on school campuses and within the community, decreasing bullying and making a significant social impact. These students get together monthly and engage in activities both at school and in the community. This sense of friendship and belonging help all students understand the differences in one another and find ways to come together. The Circle of Friends is vital to the social, emotional, and mental development for not only our disabled students but also our general population. Our general students learn to embrace differences and see others beyond the disability. They find ways to adapt the environment to accommodate the person with the disability. For a brief time, they see things thru a disabled person's life. Some of the Circle of Friends activities are wheelchair races, game day, movie outings, Halloween parties, Holiday exchanges and a variety of other activities. The most important event of the year is the Prom that occurs in April. The kids look forward to it all year. The Prom is truly the highlight event of the entire year. Come paint with us to help raise money for this wonderful organization! ... | Read More
