February 2011 On Monday night I was invited to join a group of friends for a fun night at Painting with a Twist (follow the link to learn more) in Houma. I had a gotten a gift card to this place for Christmas, and I was eager to give it a try. Basically you get a group of friends together, bring snacks (if you want), and enjoy an evening of painting together. The cool part is that no experience is required. Everyone paints the same picture, and there is an instructor guiding you each step of the way. And even cooler than that- you get to go home with a beautiful painting that you painted yourself! I can't wait to hang mine up! I would definitely do this again, even without a gift card. It's totally worth the money!

Houma, LA - New Studio Opens!

October 10, 2010 Elizabeth Stokes and Hillary Hebert don't have much of an art background. But they are the co-owners of a new business that aims to bring the arts to the average person in the Houma-Thibodaux area. The two are owners of Painting with a Twist, 488 Corporate Drive, which opened last weekend. The store bills itself as a source of fun, informal art classes for the community that provide an evening out that's different from going to dinner or traditional nightlife. “A lot of people don't realize art is really accessible to them,” said Stokes, 42, also the owner of an advertising firm. “It's helping people develop their inner artist.”
