I've been wanting to take a painting class for quite some time now, but I needed to find one that wasn't too serious, considering my lack of artistic abilities. When Painting With A Twist moved in, I knew I had found the right place. The "twist" is that you can snack and consume beverages during the class, although there isn't really much time for anything besides following along with the instructor and maybe taking a quick peek at your neighbor for some ideas.

This is the best idea ever, and I hope the owners become billionaires. Painting With A Twist posts a monthly calendar and you sign up to paint on whatever day blows your skirt up. In this case, we did a funky Christmas tree. You show up, go to your assigned seat where canvas, paint, and brushes await.

The Cypress location of Painting with a Twist is sponsoring its next Painting with a Purpose fundraiser paint class December 5 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Fifty percent of the proceeds from the class will benefit Reese Richert,who was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis in 2009. Grab some friends and come out and paint the “Cracked Cross” to support Reese and the Richert family. The three-hour class is $45
