To celebrate the end of the year, one of the teachers suggested we all go to Painting with a Twist. If you have never been before, I suggest you get a group of girls together and go. It’s basically paint by numbers but without the numbers. An artist walks you through the steps and we all painted the same picture.

An instructional atmosphere provides the canvas and the paint and teaches a 2 hour crash course on how to paint like Van Gogh, without the years off madness! The “twist” is that you can bring your favorite beverage or bottle of wine to enjoy during the class. How much better can it get?

With its Painting with a Purpose program, the franchise locations serve as fundraising spots for local charities where at least 50 percent of the proceeds are given to organizations throughout the community. This month the proceeds will go to the BP MS 150 Ride.

I'm not an "adult." I don't make a lot of what you'd call "plans." I'm not a schemer, I don't find ways to twist the world to my desires. I've always basically just drifted around and taken chances that very obviously present themselves, especially where my love life is concerned.

Last night, a few of us girls made plans to get together. Janna suggested meeting here for a fun 'girls night out.' At Painting with a Twist. Where you show up with your favorite bottle of wine (and snacks) and get your painting on. They have locations in quite a few states, and it really is a blast. And you have a painting that's all your own at the end of the night. You should go. Really! Heck, I'll even go with you. Just send me a plane ticket.
Anyhoo, as I was leaving work last evening and heading over there, I was literally handed a pair of these at the last possible second.
O-M-G!!!! What to do!
Which left me with a ma-jah decision. Blow off the girls to get my Rascal Flatts on. Or stay loyal to my tribe.

A while back, we discovered an art studio called Painting with a Twist. The general idea goes something like this: Every month Painting with a Twist puts out a calendar featuring a different painting each night. You, the artist, choose which painting you'd like to paint, show up, and an instructor walks you through the painting of your masterpiece.
It sounds simple enough, maybe too simple. I questioned by the idea of creating 'art' in such a cookie cutter fashion. Could the beauty of Van Gogh's Starry Night really be captured by a room full of people in less than three hours? I figured there was only one way to find out.

Last night Erica, Mindy, Ellen and I went to Painting with a Twist for the time. It is such a fun place! They provided the canvas, paint and brushes and a local artist guided us through painting our one of a kind creation. Our tribal elder Erica insisted we paint a very special painting together from one of her favorite movies, Breakfast at Tiffany's.
