"The above was my very 1st painting class and it was so much fun. It is not as hard as it looks and the teacher gives step by step instructions and paints along with you. This is the best stress reliever!"

Girls’ Night Out: Painting With a Twist
June 24, 2012
My sister had heard about this new activity called ‘Painting With a Twist’. It’s become all the rage in Dallas and San Antonio (and I’m sure other places) therefore we had to give it a go. The idea is to learn how to paint a picture, either of your choice or whatever is scheduled by the instructors for that night, while drinking wine and having fun.
Painting with a Twist - The Perfect Football Alternative
September 09, 2011
Seasons come and seasons go and my least favorite season is here again: football season. I’ve explored the origins of my distaste for the sport and conclude all blame is on the Aggies. Texas A&M is a fine school, but my 7-year-old self was utterly confused by the Aggies’ behavior. Why won’t they sit down? Why won’t they stop shouting? Why was I taken from grandma’s house on Thanksgiving Day to sit in the freezing cold with these people? Back when UT and A&M played on Thanksgiving, the winter air froze my heart in the very place where most Texans hold a passionate love for football. So every football season, I look for a retreat from the madness and found just the right place, “Painting with a Twist.”

Last week I went to a “Girls” happy hour – I don’t do this often but need to! This happy hour was different. It involved a paintbrush and canvas and, yes, of course, wine. We started out at Bin555 Restaurant and Wine Bar located at the Shops of Artisan’s Alley. This was my first time visiting this area. They have cute little shops and restaurants. After a glass of wine, we went next door to “Painting with a Twist.” It is an art studio with two classrooms. The idea is simple: bring your girlfriends, some wine and get ready to paint. It is $35 per person and you are provided with an instructor and all the materials needed to make a piece of artwork. They allow you to bring in a picnic – we brought wine

Little Birds has been busy working away this month for 2011--I apologize for the lack of updates on my blog, but promise great things to come in February--including the announcement of our newest additions to our Little Bird Nest, both in our immediate family as well as new Animal to represent his/her presence in the family business :) Until then--I leave you with this--A painting I painted at our local Painting With A Twist! Our Little Bird Headquarters is called Our Nest--so I have been craving a Nest on my office wall--I was going to pay big money for someone else to create this--and viola! I created it myself, perfectly personable to represent our nest with 4 eggs all accounted for! I completely recommend trying out a class near you either alone, with a friend or a group--It's John's and my next date night outing!!

Girl's Night Out--Painting with a Twist
Our New Year's Eve party spurred a Girl's Night out! I heard about Painting with a Twist and have been wanting to go there for a little while now. (For my Huntsville, AL friends there is a similar place called My Spirited Art there) It just seemed like such a fun something to do. I am no artist by any means, but it looked like so much fun that I was dying to try it! Maria mentioned it at the party and that's all it took for us to decide that we totally needed to go! And off we went for a fun filled night filled with lots of laughter, a lot of paint and ended up with four gorgeous paintings made by all of us and some hysterical laughter in the car ride home thanks to Jude's hysterical story telling! Here are a few pictures from our little "Painting with a Twist" adventure! We are planning on going again in Feb! It was absolutely the best girls night out!
