I have a saying. “If I can do it, it’s not art.” After tonight, I may have to re-think that a little bit. This evening, Lee and I attended a session at Painting With a Twist, a studio where you can come in and the instructor steps you through creating a painting.

Working Women of Tampa Bay celebrates its second anniversary June 25th with a birthday bash in Dunedin.
The networking group is just one of dozens emerging in the Tampa Bay region as people seek to increase connections with others -- women and men -- who share similar professional as well as personal goals.
Today, 83 Degrees launches a new Focus Area called Connections to report on some of those groups, their leaders, their activities and their followers -- all in search of making connections at work and at play.
Why? Connections aims to help create the ties that bind talented people with shared experiences to build strong communities and better define the sense of place that we all love about the Tampa Bay region.
Tampa, FL - Article in GalTime - Couple Paints Heart Art!

So you can imagine my excitement as I was checking out my friends' Facebook pages researching story ideas and stumbled across a picture of my friend Caroline and her husband Andres at a cool place in Tampa, called Painting With a Twist. You basically get to relax, enjoy an art lesson and drink wine while you do it. Then, you can take your finished painting home to hang. How cool is that?
I called up Painting With a Twist and got to chat with one of the owners, Marvin Gay (yes, that's his real name!). He and his wife, Leslie, own both the St. Petersburg and Tampa locations (there are franchises in several Floria cities, including Tallahassee, Pensacola and soon Orlando!) and they were more than happy to share the awesome details about the place that is quickly turning into the newest local hot spot.
Tampa, FL - Painting with a Twist Helps Patrons Tap Their Inner Artist

ST. PETERSBURG - Marvin and Leslie Gay know all about taking chances.
Displaced by Hurricane Katrina, the couple took a chance and moved to St. Petersburg to start a new life.
They rolled the dice again, when they opened an unusual business on Central Avenue that offers novices paintbrushes and canvases, then helps them tap their inner artist.
The couple owns and operates Painting With a Twist, which provides the studio, all of the supplies and an art instructor. Visitors not only leave with a picture, they also seem to have a lot of fun. And that's the whole point.

The first fundraiser was a painting class at Painting with a Twist in South Tampa on Jan. 15. At the end of the class, owner Leslie Gay presented Petra with a check for $432.50, half of the proceeds from the class, to put toward the Feb. 14 Spay Day.
Proceeds from both events enabled HSTB to only charge $10 per cat at the For the LOVE of Cats Spay Day. A rabies shot, FVRCP vaccination, and ear tip were also included in the nominal fee.

I saw and advertisement recently for a new business opening up in Tampa called Painting with a Twist. The concept is way fun and super cool. I immediately wanted to sign up for a class but never quite had the time between Rock Boating and recovering from Rock Boating. Well, a couple of days ago I saw that they were hosting a fundraiser for the Humane Society of Tampa Bay and they were calling it Painting with a Purpose. And then I saw what we would be painting.
Ok people, it doesn’t get more perfect for me so I signed up and invited my mom to join me.
