Painting with a Twist FAQ

Q: What is Painting with a Twist? 
A: Painting with a Twist is a fun art studio for anyone interested in painting. In our classes we use acrylic paints on canvas, wood planks, or screens.  We teach each class step by step as our guests complete the featured painting for the session.  Most of our guests have no painting experience and they have a great time!  

Q: What are the prices for a class? 
A: Prices are based on painting surface, surface size, and time duration.

  • $37 per person for standard canvas (16x20) or square canvas (12x12)
  • $40 per person for tall canvas (10x30)
  • $40 per person for wooden shiplap pallet (17x17) or wood cutouts (18”)
  • $45 per person for pine plank wood (10x26) or (17x17.5)
  • $45 per person for Rebeca Flott Arts screen art (16x20)
  • $55 per person for Paint Your Pet standard canvas (16x20) or square canvas (12x12)
  • Any two-hour event type may be upgraded to a three-hour event (additional $10 per person)

Q: When do you post a new monthly schedule? 
A: The monthly calendar is posted on the 15th day of the prior month.  For example, the January calendar is posted on December 15th.

Q: Will my painting be dry by the end of the session? 
A: Yes, if there are a few damp places, we have hair dryers which will dry them quickly.

Q: At what time should I arrive for class? 
A: 15-20 minutes prior to class start time should be plenty of lead time.

Q: Are reservations required? 
A: Yes, all guests must register in advance with payment. For public classes, we assign seats. Therefore, please make sure you let us know if you're joining someone in the Special Request Box.

Q: Will you have bottle openers and cups? 
A: Yes, we have bottle openers, cups, and ice buckets.  We do NOT provide ice or eating utensils.

Q: Since it is around dinner, can we bring food? 
A: Yes, feel free to bring in a light meal or snack. Remember you will be painting for most of the time, so finger foods or light foods are best.

Q: What do I wear? 
A: Wear whatever makes you comfortable and wear something you don't mind getting a little paint on. We will have aprons for you if you need them.

Q: Are infants or observers allowed? 
A: We cannot accommodate observers or infants during class sessions.  During FAMILY DAY or ALL AGES classes, one parent may accompany his/her child.  Due to space limitations, younger siblings who are not participating are not permitted.

Q: Do you do private parties? 
A: Yes! We can accommodate up to 40 people in our large studio and up to 20 people in our smaller studio.

Q: What size is the canvas? 
A: We offer artwork on the following canvas sizes: 12x12 (Square), 16x20 (Standard Canvas), 10x30 (Tall Canvas) and 24x36 (Large Canvas).

Q: Is there an age limit?
A: Sunday - Thursday (Age 15+ after 6:00pm). Friday & Saturday (Age 18+ after 6:00pm). Ages 7+ may attend Family Day or All Ages class. Please reference each event description for more details. No babies/toddlers permitted in the studio during class time.

Q: Can children under 12 years old paint?
A: Yes.  We offer classes designated as "Family Day" and "All Ages".  Please check our calendar for details.  We recommend ages 7 and older for our children's classes.  No alcohol is permitted during "Family Day" or "All Ages" events. Private Parties are also another avenue to accommodate younger children. Please know that adult supervision is always required.

Q: What if I must cancel my reservation?
A: If you must cancel your reservation, we will issue a Complimentary Store Credit (No Refunds). Please provide at least a two (2) hour notice to receive a Complimentary Store Credit (valid for 3 months from the event date).  Cancellations with less than 2 hours notice from the class start time or "No Shows" forfeit their registration fee.  Complimentary Store Credits are valid only at the Ann Arbor location.

Q: What is the policy for Bad Weather or Unexpected Facilities Closure?
A: Class will be cancelled due a facilities closure or if a weather emergency is declared. In the rare event of a class cancellation, all registered guests will be emailed about the cancellation at least 2 hours prior to the event.  A Complimentary Credit (valid for 3 months from the event date) will be issued if class is cancelled by us due to inclement weather or an unexpected/unplanned faciities closure.

Q: Is there parking available?
A: Yes, there is plenty of FREE parking available. We are in the Village Centre shopping center, which has plenty of parking and the parking lot is well lit.

Q: Is the facility handicap accessible? 
A: Yes, our facility is handicap accessible. Please contact us if you require specific assistance.

Q: Is it permissible to tip the Artist-Instructor or Artist-Assistant?
A: Absolutely!  It is certainly not required. However, the Artist Team greatly appreciate it, and it helps them to know they are doing a fantastic job. 

Painting with a Twist reserves the right to cancel classes for unforeseen circumstances. Registrants will be notified prior to class time and refunds will be processed.
