Michelle

Michelle

Michelle was born, raised, and has never left this little town we call Dickson. She has always lived here and has seen this town grow. Michelle has always enjoyed art of many styles. She works mostly in mixed media and acrylic. During her high school years she was involved and President of Dickson County High School’s Art Club for two years. After graduating from DCHS, she attended Nossi College of Art in Goodlettsville, TN and graduated with an Associates Degree in Art Communication and Graphic Design. In 2005 Michelle joined the Tennessean as a Graphic Designer and designed many websites, logos, billboards and ads for local store owners here in Dickson County and Nashville. She left there and became manager of a local art gallery called Wall Hangers that was located in Downtown Dickson. She worked closely with local artists to house their work for show and to sell. While managing Wall Hangers she taught private art lessons and classes for all ages. In the summer months she would have camps where she would teach children techniques, styles and different mediums. The children were ages 5 years of age up to high school aged. Michelle is a part of the Art for Heart of Dickson County that is a committee that takes artist’s work and has it auctioned off as a fund-raising event to help the local stores and vendors that need grants. On the side, Michelle has organized and instructed paint parties for date nights, birthday parties, girls nights, mother and daughter parties. Then the opportunity came up for her to join our team. Michelle loves sharing art, teaching art, and being part of the group. She loves the atmosphere that parties bring, and the joy that she gets to bring to her classes.

Susan

Susan

Susan is a Dickson County Native just trying to survive. With her on the go family, she tends to heard cats (kids) when not at work. Painting with a Twist is her “me time” and it also makes her feel a little better about having $40,000 in student loan debt for a Bachelor of Fine Arts Visual Communication degree. Real Estate is her primary income, but she does some art and design freelance work with some accounts receivable work for BUGSolutions and R3 Contractors too. Deep down she’s just a creative problem solver with a jones for pleasing. Susan has three beautiful and crazy girls that keeps her and her husband Brian on their toes. As Brian would describe them, they have Annabelle the competitive athletic one, Brianna the ballerina (middle child syndrome with lots of drama), and Claire the mean one also known as Satan.
Samantha

Samantha

Samantha was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, but was raised in Bon Aqua, Tennessee throughout her school years. Even as a child, Samantha would draw and paint for her friends, family, and teachers. She attended East Hickman High School where she was the president of Art Club and often worked on set painting for the theater department. She majored in Studio Art at Columbia State Community College and graduated with an Associate of Arts degree. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Austin Peay State University and will soon be starting on a Master’s degree. She works in a variety of artistic media including watercolor, graphite, collage, oil pastel, and, of course, acrylic! Samantha is passionate about art and seeks to bring out the creativity in others. She found that PWAT is the perfect place for balancing a creative career, a family, and for continuing her education. She has two kids: (the creative and chatty) Vincent and (the kind and funny) Piper. She has been married since 2011 with the love of her life, Dakota. She also has two goofy dogs and a cat. In her spare time she loves to read, listen to Broadway musicals, play with her kids, and watch anime with her husband.
Alex

Alex

Alex is our youngest artist at 18 years old and has loved painting all her life! She lives here in Dickson where she attends Dickson County High School as a senior, and plans to attend TSU next fall for dental hygiene. She enjoys being in art class creating all medias of art while having fun with friends. She’s in the art club, work based learning, and the fishing team at the high school. So when she isn’t at the studio she’s on the lake! Her favorite part of being at painting with a twist is seeing everyone’s painting come to life, and discovering how unique each and every one of the paintings are! --
Kimberly D

Kimberly D

"To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong."- Sanaya Roman. The above words are so true for any type of artist. I believe that art can heal, inspire, and allow people to get to know one another in an entirely new way. My name is Kimberly Daniel, and I have been doing art ever since I can remember. So many kinds of art speak to me whether it be dancing, painting, culinarily creating, or playing music. They are all so beautiful, and I believe EVERYONE is created to do art in some sense. It's freeing, beautiful, and, ultimately, it is necessary for truly living life as we should! Joining the artists at Painting With a Twist is just another way I get to share my passion for art and the love of creating. Instructing lends itself to what I do feel I've always been good at.....people. I love to help people find and do what they thought they couldn't. It reminds me that the only thing standing between what we do and what we CAN do is simply our willingness to make the attempt. I love life, my family and talking while walking you through a fun work of art, as you make it your own. I hope you will come paint with me....
Jessica

Jessica

Jessica is a 5th generation native of Dickson County. She was raised in a home where creativity was greatly encouraged and was exposed to many different creative outlets, but painting has always been her favorite. Painting is her favorite way to relax and relieve anxiety. Jessica is married to her high school “crush”, David, and they have two children. Dalton is four and is already showing a love for painting and Harper is her precious little girl. Jessica can’t wait to help you bring out your inner artist!
Tonya

Tonya

I am originally from Dickson but lived in Fort Worth, Texas for 7 years with my husband Scott and our children, Zachary & Hope. We moved home in 2006 and while I am a Regional Manager for Business Wire by day, when my Aunt Sara decided to open Painting with a Twist, I discovered my love of painting by night! My Aunt Sara and I have enjoyed this journey and you will see me teaching the occasional class.....the easier ones! There will be fun....and much laughter.....can’t wait to see YOU in class!
Sara

Sara

I was born & raised on a farm two miles out from Dickson on Jones Creek Road. I am a graduate of DHS as well as APSU with a bachelors degree in Acctg. I am a licensed Tennessee CPA. After living in ATL for 27 years I moved back to Dickson early last year (2017), initially I thought to retire. But after watching Undercover Boss one Friday night in January 2017 & hearing all about Painting with a Twist things took an about face! My only concern was that I had no artistic ability, but when I found out that most PWAT franchisees are accountants, I knew what I wanted to do. Last February (2017) my niece & I flew to NOLA to find out more about this franchise. And the rest is history, as they say. .We had our soft opening on February 1, 2018 and our GO/Ribbon Cutting on February 6th. Since staring this journey I have painted approximately 70 paintings in various studios, getting better over time. Now, I feel ready to tackle teaching a few classes myself - the simpler ones, of course :)
