Our Green, OH Painting with a Twist Artists

Jenn

Jenn

Jenn has a passion for people and art of all kinds. Up until Painting With A Twist came about Jenn performed her artistry on heads of hair. This is a new outlet that has found enjoyment beyond measure. Jenn feels that the real magic lies in what art can actually inspire in our guests. True joy comes from sparking new or unexpected elements that haven't been seen in awhile. Creativity lives in us from childhood but all this "adulting" can diminish it greatly. Our team wants to bring it out and have fun in the process. We look forward to meeting you soon.

A bridal/evening wear designer, having last worked for Vera Wang in the Luxe Bridal division, I am currently a professor of fashion design and illustration at Kent State University’s Fashion School. In the summer, I teach Fashion Summer Academy for high school students. From my home I offer custom design bridal and evening wear, special occasion cakes and costume design for private, business or theater clients. I also teach fine art painting, calm and canvas (meditation and stress release painting), sewing, drawing, crafts and crochet. My favorite superhero is, of course, Wonder Woman! I can be found meeting and greeting in full WW gear while painting with kids big or small or just passing out hugs! I love to laugh and enjoy life and people. I love volleyball and zumba, and TRAVEL. I love to see and do new things and have a rich life experience. My purpose is to help people see the good, the beauty in everything - especially in themselves - through creativity, art, paint, and fun.

My favorite toys as a child were my coloring books and box of crayons. I absolutely loved to color and I knew I wanted to create art for the rest of my life. Growing up in the culturally vast atmosphere of New York City has influenced my passion for the visual arts, dance, and culture. I have a B.F.A. in Painting and Drawing and an M.A. in Latin American Studies with a focus in the Fine Arts from Ohio University. Throughout my collegiate career, I have immersed myself in various art mediums including acrylic painting, watercolors, illustration, ink, charcoal, and much more. I participated in several art exhibitions and also dabbled in scene design for the Theater department. I created posters for dance concerts, campus events, and was the visual coordinator for many functions including, Nuit Blanche Athens. I have facilitated many art and dance workshops at schools, universities, and outside of the USA. I am strongly committed to encouraging life-long learning through my teachings and sharing my experiences and love for the Fine Arts with everyone. If I am not doodling on a notepad, I am often dancing to anything with a great beat! Aside from being a gymnast from the age of five, I also expose myself to all kinds of dance forms. I am particularly fond of world dance and love doing West African, Caribbean, and Polynesian Dancing. I was part of the multi-ethnic touring dance and drumming ensemble, Azaguno, since 2010. I’ve recently taken more interests into other forms of fitness including Buti Yoga and Pole Dancing. I absolutely love to work out! Nowadays, you will often find me doing crafts, crocheting while watching Netflix, or sitting for hours playing videogames.

My greatest joy is witnessing others tap into their God given creativity. We are all different yes, but there is one thing that remains constant; art is therapeutic, no matter how well you have honed the craft. For me, “Art is where WORK meets LOVE.” I have been passionate about color and the arts since I can remember. I have experience with many mediums of art: glass blowing, metalsmithing, culinary art and also being a licensed hair designer. I have always known my passion but have chosen multiple ways of expressing it. When I’m not being creative, my favorite place on earth is the ocean (any ocean really). I love life and know God is good. I don’t need much in this life; just my loved ones and sunshine at the beach with my art supplies.

I found this job by typing "art" in the search bar on a job search site, and that is what started the awesome journey I've been on with PWAT! After attending The Art Institute of Charleston for graphic design I decided to move back to Ohio and continue my education at The University of Akron. In my spare time I do freelance graphic design, tattoo design, draw, paint and dabble in photography. I am so blessed to work at Painting With a Twist because it allows me to share my love of art and a good time with people from all walks of life! Cheers!

My wife and I decided to open this studio in 2015 with limited knowledge of running an art studio. I'm a business man locked in corporate America who was looking for an outlet. Well let's just say I've been humbled and honored to stumble into this venture. The community has embraced our service and we're building a reputation to be proud of. Our staff is the heart and soul of what we do everyday and I'm blessed to be around them. I love my gorgeous wife and do my best to raise three beautiful daughters. When I have free time it's spent with a line in the water and the sun on my back hoping to land the big one! Thanks again for all the support and we look forward to seeing you soon!
