Our Artists

Dawn O'Connell

Dawn O'Connell

Hi, I am Dawn, owner of Painting with a Twist of Pleasant Hill! I graduated from the University of Georgia and I love to find ways to combine my passion for art and her natural ability to make people happy. I have spent years as an art instructor!. The joy of creativity is my expression of art therapy, and being part of the Painting with a Twist family gives us the opportunity to bring that happiness to our community. We look forward to having you in our class as you paint your worries away and discover your inner artist!
Kimberly Parker

Kimberly Parker

My name is Kimberly Parker, born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am an energetic, mostly self-taught artist and primarily work in the medium of painting and have done some pottery and glass art. I have taken figure drawing along with various other art classes at DVC and will tackle just about anything. Give me an old dresser or stool, and I will give it personality. Outside of my interest in the art world, you will find me grooming and training dogs, dog sitting and walking, as well as group dog walks. My buddy Dagger is always by my side and adding joy to my day. In my spare time I enjoy movies and can most likely tell you which actors played in a movie if asked. You can also find me cooking, doing crafts, cake decorating, baking and just being myself which can be a bit goofy at times! My gift of dyslexia has allowed me to express my creativity in various ways by thinking in images mainly in pictures instead of words. I paint with colors; they are my words. I’m looking forward to meeting you and letting you express your creative side….Here’s to the artist in all of us!
Iilena Handy

Iilena Handy

Hello my fellow earthlings! My name is Iilena and I was born and raised here in the bay. Some of my hobbies include writing poems, playing video games, karaoke (Not very good) and Painting here! I started Painting not long ago and became a regular here at this wonderful studio! I love coming here when I’m not working as a server. I love to explore my creative side and push myself to see how good I can become! You will never meet someone like me! I got that one of a kind personality. If you see me around don’t be afraid to say hello! Let’s get this painting party started!
Maureen Birdsall

Maureen Birdsall

My name is Maureen, and we’re going to get messy together! For a few glorious hours a week, I get to lead the creative warriors here at PWAT through an awesome painting. When we’re together, I want to laugh as much as you do – so grab your paint brushes, and jump into one of my classes. When I’m not in the studio, you can usually find me scooting around on my Vespa, or sneaking off to Napa with my hubby (always trying to avoid my day job as a web designer). Wanderlust should be my middle name, as I always have a travel bucket list going. I love books, theater, social media, gadgets, my 2 boys & hubby, gaming, my unfriendly cat, travel and of course wine (all out of order).
Bee Davis

Bee Davis

Hi, my name is Brenda ‘Be’ Davis, or Ms. Be for short. I like to conduct workshops and lectures specifically designed to fit adult and young audiences. My audiences around the world have been touched by the wisdom, wit, and delivery of my creative messages. I am an owner and operator of Be-Neal Company which manufactures adult and youth apparel, art and crafts, and other products. I have locations in Scottsdale, AZ and Los Angeles, CA. I have attended Tracy Warner Fashion Designer and several other art schools in my lifetime. My mission statement is “With a needle and thread, a paintbrush and paint one can create incredible visions, dreams and thoughts in a matter of minutes.”
Hazel Panaligan

Hazel Panaligan

Hi! My name is Hazel and I was named after a hazelnut (from my Dad's favorite chocolate bar). I was born and raised in the Manila, where I received my BFA in Visual Communications from the University of the Philippines. I moved to New York City, lived there for a few years, before settling down in the wonderful Bay Area. Art has been a part of my life since childhood that I can't imagine my life without it. Acrylic, watercolors, colored pencils and photography are my constant companions when I need creative release. When I am not making art, I enjoy travelling, listening to old music, reading books and geeking out over movies, comics and anime. A little trivia: I am a healthcare professional by day! I am excited to meet all of you, so we can discover together how much fun making art can be. Yes, you can do it! Art can be your friend!
Shelley Fiori

Shelley Fiori

Hi, my name is Shelley and I started out as a customer here. I love it so much here, that when I was asked if I wanted a job I jumped at the chance! Come escape with me for a few hours, and relax and we’ll have some fun together. I am a mother and a grandma and enjoy every minute I get to spend with my 6 grandchildren. I love that I am able to pass on the love of painting to you as well as my grandkids. I look forward to our many artistic travels together here at Painting With a Twist!
