A fairytale ending doesn’t happen every day. Are you ready to have your heart warmed? Look at this sweet face, and read on.
Each year in the US, between 700k to 1 million shelter dogs are euthanized. This is why we partner with organizations like Oregon Dog Rescue. They transport dogs from high risk kill shelters so they can provide medical care along with much needed loving affection while finding their fur-ever homes.
So far in 2019, we’ve hosted five Paint Your Pet FUNdraisers, benefiting Oregon Dog Rescue. 222 painters came out to paint their furry friends with the help of our artists. We’ve donated $2,200 (and counting!) towards helping ODR’s mission of providing care for these at risk animals. During each event, we feature a special pup in need of a little extra love.
At our 2/6 event, we featured Drake. Drake is an older Shepard with the biggest smile. You could see from his photo that he has a heart of gold, despite being a little down on his luck. Luckily for him, Joyce Gillespie was seated directly in front of the artist painting Drake. Joyce and her family had seen Drake through ODR and were debating if it was the right time to add another dog to the mix. After 2.5 hours of seeing him come alive on canvas, she knew it was a sign. They went to Oregon Dog Rescue the next day, and brought him home. Here’s her update on his adjustment into his new life:
“Drake is slowly becoming more open and loving with us. I have high hopes that he will be a giant snuggle bug in no time. He has a great personality that is starting to shine through. He was originally a stray in Cali & placed into a high kill shelter, then rescued in Cali & made his way to Oregon Dog Rescue. I believe he was adopted once and returned somewhere in between. He has his forever home now and we will spoil this guy silly and give him the life every senior dog deserves. Our family will forever be grateful for you and your work with Oregon Dog Rescue. This world needs more people like you who help these shelter animals who all deserve a forever home.” - Joyce Gillespie
Our Paint Your Pet events are magical. There’s nothing better than spending a few hours in a room full of pet lovers. Every painter is there to pay tribute to their own furry (sometimes feathered or scaly) friends, while supporting rescue efforts to help more displaced animals find homes. You can feel the emotion, and that really becomes apparent in the finished paintings.
Interested in trying your hand at painting your pet? You’re in luck. We just released a few more dates. This time around, we’ve teamed up with Oregon Dog Rescue, Family Dogs New Life and the Oregon Humane Society. A portion from each ticket sold goes to these three wonderful organizations so we can bring more happy endings to dogs like Drake. Head over to our calendar here and reserve your seats. Hurry! These events sell out quickly.
