Becca Owenby

Becca Owenby

“Oh! I was always getting into trouble!” Becca laughed recounting her time sitting in middle school doodling instead of paying attention. The seedlings of love for Art sprouted when she stumbled across a fellow student drawing in a style unknown to her- Anime. That is, a Japanese form of stylized comic book-like cartoons that hold incredible emotion and splashed with color. It was the story telling and character development within the crisp inked lines that peaked her interest. She says, “I think we are all seeking to be understood, and art is the most powerful tool to accomplish that”. Whidbey Island, where she grew up, was a haven for all artists and allowed for endless exploration into the imagination. Its stunning vistas challenged her to branch out into watercolor, acrylic, oil, and later digital art.
Blake Coker

Blake Coker

Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Blake is a published illustrator who strives to tell new and engaging stories. His work often pulls from his background of reading comics and watching films and has always been inspired by the detailed storytelling. He is a BFA graduate from the University of Idaho and is currently working on a comic book about his brother with Autism. Blake wants to share his personal experiences that he has had with his brother to help spread knowledge and empathy towards all people with disabilities. Blake has had the pleasure of illustrating four children’s books and has taken the experiences he has learned to help him tell his own creative narratives. Along with children’s books, Blake has also done album artwork as well as posters and other advertisements for numerous events. He hopes that these experiences can help him achieve his goal at becoming an illustrator for DC Comics.

I've been interested in art since I was a kid. I've always been curious & eager to learn & was fortunate to have amazing art teachers all through grade school fueling my passion. In 2012, I picked up tattooing and started my self-taught journey that's lasted 7 years. In 2015 I decided to get my AA in Fine Arts and have plans to get my Bachelor's in the near future.

Even as a kid, I would always draw pictures and comics for my friends. I would even pull clay from the creek I lived next to and make sculptures that dried in the sun. Art was my favorite subject in high school, so when I started college I took lots of art classes. I then took a ceramics class and loved it so much that I ended up being the studio tech there and later got a job teaching pottery at a private studio. I now sell a lot of my acrylic paintings and pottery. I'm attending school for Biology, love plants, animals, longboarding, hiking, swimming, playing video games and reading graphic novels. I also tutor math/science at the Salish school and am a waitperson at the Knitting Factory! FUN FACT: I have 150+ house plants, a puppy, 3 kitties, 2 parakeets, and about 7 fish!
