Painting with a Twist FAQ
Do I need to have painting experience?
Definitely not! Our events are designed for people who have never painted. In 2 or 3 hours, you will have a fun experience and get to take home your own work of art!
How much does a painting event cost?
Public events vary in price depending on the surface type and any special upgrades. Expect anywhere from $30-$75.
How do I reserve a painting event?
Browse our Denton painting event calendar page and select a painting on a date that works for you, then sign up on that page. At this time you must reserve your seat online and you must have a reservation to attend an event. No in-studio or over the phone reservations will be taken. No unpaid observers allowed.
Can you accomodate groups or parties?
Yes! You may book a private painting party. Please read our party info page for all the details.
If your group doesn't want to pay the party fee, you may bring your group into one of our regular public classes. Simply write in your reservation comments who you'd like to sit with.
Are kids allowed?
Most of our painting events are for adults, age 18 and older. However, 13–17 year olds are welcome to regular classes except on weekend evenings. We occasionally offer painting classes for kids age 5 and up; these are marked as “Family Friendly” on our calendar. Babies and toddlers are not permitted into the studio during public events. All kids under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
What is provided?
We provide all art supplies, a local artist instructor, and basic party supplies, including: paints, paintbrushes, canvas, easel, apron, cups, plates, corkscrews, bottle openers, and paper towels.
What should I bring?
You may bring any food or drink— including alcoholic beverages (byob)— ice, cake, balloons, party favors, etc. Please no glitter or confetti.
Where should I park?
You may park for free in most of the parking spots on the square, along Oak Street, and in the public lot behind Howling Mutt Brewery. Be sure to check you are not parked in a marked tow-away zone.
Will my painting still be wet when I leave?
Nope! We use fast-drying acryllic paint. If you have areas of thick paint that are still tacky after class, we have hair dryers to help them dry fast.
Do you offer refunds?
No. We offer store credit with 48+ hr notice of cancellation on select events. Be sure to read the cancellation policy for the event you are reserving.
Can I get there with the Dart Train or A-train?
Yes! There is no reason to drink and drive when you can ride the train from almost anywhere in the DFW metroplex. Take the Dart green line to the end of the line at Trinity Mills Rail Station, then switch to the A-train and take it to the end of the line at downtown Denton Transit Center. From there, we are a 10-15 min. walk. Turn north (left) on railroad Ave., left on E. Hickory St. for a half mile, then right on N. Cedar St. We are on the corner of Cedar and W. Oak St.
