Cyndi and Eddie both graduated from high school in Ocala and have recently moved back to home to open their own Painting with a Twist. Cyndi has past PWAT experience as an artist in the St. Petersburg and Pensacola studios. Eddie will continue his career with The Global Furniture Group and Cyndi will run the day-to-day operations of the studio. However, Eddie will come in to be extra entertainment, a comedian, and a dance instructor if needed! In addition to opening Painting with a Twist in Ocala, they married on St. Pete beach at sunset in Ft. Desoto Park.
Interesting fact: Their wedding date of April 26th is nestled between their birthdays. Cyndi's birthday is April 25th, and Eddie's birthday is April 27th!

Gifts from the heart are the most rewarding. When I was a little girl I remember playing in my grandmothers art studio. Rummaging in the various paints and brushes. Looking up at these tall as life murals. Seeing her express her inner child was unforgettable. Being an artist solely means opening your heart and allowing the endless stream of creativity to be present. Created to be creative. So be that, and do it with a pure heart. True art is wholesome & undeniably comes from an unadulterated state within.
Enjoy the gift of expression & paint for the love of it!

My name is Mel and I have been painting since early 2002. I am originally from NY but have in lived in Florida since I was a kid. I have always been into anything artistic. It has always been something that helps me through anything I may encounter in life. I use my art as a diary so to speak, a way to communicate, experiment and better my skills as i progress.
When it comes to subject matter I paint from two very different sides of the spectrum, painting extremely textured abstracts which have a earth-like/rock texture to them. I usually get asked if they are "google map" images from around the world, which I now donate 15% of the proceeds of the abstracts to charity. These pieces are very therapeutic and bring balance to my artwork, letting my creativity flow with these pieces is a nice break at times from the meticulous detail I usually encounter with my realistic nudes. There has even been times where I bring the two together. Nudes. I have always been fascinated by the shadow play and contours of the human body, they amaze me. In the past the one thing that made my heart set on being an artist was when I was in high school I bought a college humanities book at a yard sale and while flipping through I came across a photo of Michelangelo's "Pieta." From there on I knew that I wanted to strive towards furthering my artistic skills. From there I went to CFCC and studied under (at that time) Professor Jack Thursby who was a very big influence with my work as a painter. Other artistic influences range from Piet Mondrian, Tamara de Lempicka, Michelangelo, Bernini, Banksy, Salvador Dali, etc. So I started studying, painting, sculpting, etc.
and now I am here....

I was born and raised in the Midwest and moved to FL in 2008. I enjoy the beach and the interesting Florida wildlife and scenery. I feel like I’ve been an artist my entire life since my dad was an art major and I grew up with art supplies and books around the house. Both of my parents always encouraged my artistic endeavors. I was the girl that had friends who would pay me a quarter to draw a picture for them and I would write a note in the front of my coloring books that said “the rule is that you have to color in the lines”. I’m so glad that I’ve learned some rules are made to be broken! Ha! I would spend hours looking at Old World Masters paintings in my dad’s books. In 2016 I was fortunate enough to visit Van Gogh’s museum, Rembrandt’s home and studio, and the world famous Rijks Museum which houses over 1 million objects of history and art. That trip reawakened the artist in me that had been put aside for years. I love traveling and visiting museums and seeing new places. I enjoy the outdoors and being near water. My other artistic endeavors have included singing and dancing. Dancing is another passion of mine. I love to compete and perform with my amateur partner, as well as, my professional dance coach. I love sparkly things so it’s always fun to dress in the ballroom gowns and shine on that dance floor! I am also a licensed Realtor® in two states. My daughter is a talented Interior Designer and her husband is an Executive Chef who is a creative culinary artist. We love the arts in my family! Don’t Ever Let Anyone Dull Your Sparkle! You were born to Shine!
Sheryl Is a very creative person. Her father was an artist and draftsman and her mother was a musician. So, she got the best of both worlds. Her father taught her some of the fundamentals when she was about 6 years old. The rest she learned on her own. She’s worked some in pencils, pastels, oil paint, murals, 3D graphics and has work on Stunt Show Sets, VBS themes, and award winning parade floats. Her mother was a singer and musician. That’s where Sheryl’s love for music comes in. Sheryl sings and plays some guitar. She has also spent 25 years in Radio, 16 in national radio for various formats from News, Classic Rock, Country, Adult Contemporary and even Radio Disney. She enjoys all different types of art and music and finds inspiration in them.
Sheryl always loves to learn and try new things. She has a “Can Do” attitude. Other interests include Belly Dance, Kenpo Karate, Live Sound Production, and has an Advanced Scuba Certification as well as rehabbing houses. She also loves to help people and has taught dance, martial arts, guitar, radio. And now she is proud part of our art instructor team. So don’t be surprised if she busts out in song and dance. If she cuts loose, feel free to join her.

Amber is new to Ocala but already feels at home at PWAT. Entertaining folks comes easy with 12 years in the customer service industry and teaching painting is a breeze with a Bachelor’s degree in Art from the University of Alabama. I’ve studied painting from abstract to photo realism and have come to the conclusion that there are no wrong answers. The best part about of painting when there are no wrong answers is that nothing can go wrong! There is nothing more soothing and settling than knowing that nothing can possibly go wrong and getting a little twisted.
