Jaimie is an art therapist by day and instructor by night. She has her own practice in Tallahassee and has been an artist at Painting with a Twist since the doors first opened in 2010. She often jokes that working at PWAT is her therapy, and loves nothing more than unwinding with her twisters as she guides them through a painting. In the future, Jaimie hopes to do research to find out what physically changes in the brain when making art!
Hello PWATers, my name is Sam. I am a full time doctoral student at FSU studying arts administration. I love all things art and in my own work do mostly stippling (tiny dots with pen). I also love to travel, watch and play sports, and spend time with my awesome dogs, Shadow and Frazier. I hope to one day run my own community arts center, and love having such a fun job here at Painting with a Twist. Happy Painting! - Sam, aka Shmu
Hello there! I'm Victoria, and I have been making art as long as I can remember. Painting is my main medium, using oils or watercolors in an impressionistic style to create big, bright, beautiful florals.
I graduated from Florida State University with a Masters in Art Education in 2016 and am now currently the Art Teacher at Gilchrist Elementary! I love teaching art to all ages!
My goal is to continue teaching and having all my students (in school and at Painting with a Twist) learn that they can be an amazing artist as long as they try their best!
I can't wait to paint with you!
Look out for (Mc)Kenzie!! She is a studio art major at FSU with a focus in printmaking! She is aiming to get a Masters in Art Therapy and hopes to work with children. Her true loves are sushi, art and dogs!!! She enjoys hanging out with her miniature schnauzer, reading comics, and watching Ru Paul's Drag Race!
Currently the Studio Manager. Art has been my passion since the day I learned to hold a crayon. Whether it was doodling cartoon characters in my third-grade math notebook or volunteering to paint life-sized murals on the walls of my high school, I have made it a point to incorporate art into my everyday life as much as possible. Since a young age, I have been fascinated with the entire creative process, from design conception to artistic completion.
My goal is to incorporate three-dimensional art and art therapy into ESE and special education classrooms and programs. Pursuing a degree in ceramics from the University of Florida was the next step in making this goal a reality. I received a rigorous studio learning experience amongst a dynamic community of artists as well as exposure to new ceramic materials, tools and advanced firing processes. UF’s ceramic program has provided me with the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully achieve my career goals of furthering art in our education system.
Graduated with my BA in the Visual Arts in May 2017. Currently, I am pursuing entry into the FSU MA Art Therapy program in the up coming school year while staying active with freelance work in the local artist community.
I'm a freshman at FSU and I have been painting since kindergarten. It's become a huge part of my life. I hope one day to run away with the circus and continue to show those around me my passion for the arts, and hopefully inspire them as well to pursue their own artistic goals.
I am an artist, free spirit, and a beautiful mind who releases her dreams on canvas...literally. Some of my paintings are insipried from dreams that I've actually had. My art tells stories based on my imagination, fantasies, and dreams come to life. I capture the essence of life and feel a responsibility to show people how to display their love and light through art - whether throgh written word, verbal communication, or the motion of a paintbrush, your story is yours to tell. YOUR LIGHT IS YOUR ART. SO SHINE ON.
Hey y’all! My name is Kiara and I was born in Jacksonville, Florida. I’m currently living in Tallahassee while I work towards my BFA in Studio Art from FSU. When I’m not at PWAT I like to read, explore nature, and make woodcarvings. One day I hope to make a living off of my art practice, but in the meantime, I love helping people practice art!
Mary Birmingham is an emerging multimedia artist from Wilmington, Delaware who received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from The University of Delaware in 2016. While studying there, Mary discovered a love for printmaking, sculpture, video and photography, all of which play a role in her artistic practice centered around painting. Mary learned to paint at a very early age with her mother, who worked as a freelance illustrator in the late 70's in New York City. This nature and nurture of art and craft is what has made Mary the artist she is today. She is a kind, passionate, old soul committed to an artistic lifestyle. She has completed several murals both collaborative and solo, and enjoys teaching instructional paint classes to all ages. Mary currently lives in Wilmington and rents a studio in Hockessin at the RH Gallery & Studios.
