I am originally from North Texas but I have claimed Austin as my home for the last 5 years. I have a BFA and MA in Art Education. I am also a working musician in Austin and have been teaching visual art since 2009. I tour around Texas often and around other parts of the US every year. I love cats, tarot cards, and yoga.
About 80% of people are unhappy at work. Our culture has separated work from passion & taught us to prefer a higher paycheck to higher happiness. I believe everyone should reach their goals & be driven by their dreams, uncover one's gifts & passions and link them to the practical needs of the world... being in the right place & making the best use of one's talent is where we can all find true Happiness!! I love the culture here at Painting with a Twist and love that it’s almost the only place you can go where people will put phones away, let go and be in the moment.
I grew up in Southlake K-12, spend 15 years in Dallas, then on to Austin in 2017. I hold a Fine Arts Degree and a background doing custom painting, faux finishes, murals, gold leaf an design in hotels and luxury houses. I am a licensed hairstylist and came from Managing the Richardson Painting with a Twist studio prior to moving to Austin.
My true passion is acrylics on canvas, beautifully blending hard & soft mediums with a fresh, out of the box style. My Art is Love made Visible!!
Sometimes painting can be my escape when things aren't fitting just right just in life but when I paint I feel at home. My favorite is a sunny day when I can bring a canvas outside & paint all day just creating & letting the ideas flow out of my brush. I love to use different textures & styles when I paint so there is a piece for everyone to enjoy. We all spend our lives in anticipations, in determining to be vastly happy at some period when we have more time, but the only time we have is here and now.
I am optimistic, glad no matter what because life is to short to waste a minute being anything but happy. Smile often! Find beauty in unlikely places. I love my life & see every day as a blessing. I believe in true love & I surround myself with kind hearted people who drive me to be the best person I can be. My parents, brothers, niece’s and dog Jager are an amazing inspiration to me and I try to make them proud every day.

Adrienne Hodge is an Austin based artist whose current pen & ink portrait series combines classic portraiture with visual allegory. Her work combines both contemporary and vintage drawing and calligraphy inks through a process of drawn and painted layers. Among her strongest influences, she cites particle physics, psychology, neuroscience and turn of the century astronomical photography. When she is not making art or caring for her two small children, she teaches drawing and painting classes and workshops to adults at Moon Gallery & Studio in East Austin as well as at the Dougherty Arts School in South Austin. She has been teaching art and art appreciation to people ages 5 to 75 for nearly a decade. Adrienne's teaching style is all about holding space for students to build and develop lasting skills through focused techniques and creative support.
I have been drawing and painting since I was a child. I am originally from New Jersey but Texas is my home. I work full time as a hair stylist at Birds Barbershop.
In my spare time I love to hike, craft, and hang out with my fur babies.
From child actor to painting instructor, Zach’s life has been a fantastical journey along a slightly unconventional road. Zach grew up watching Bob Ross, singing and dancing, and getting lost in his own imagination. After retiring from a successful little league baseball career, it was time for Zach to make a change. He auditioned and was cast on the PBS show Barney & Friends, though he decided not to follow his costars to Hollywood and instead chose to pursue a higher education. Studying theatre throughout his primary schooling, Zach was invited to study at the University of New Mexico, where he earned his B.A. in Philosophy. Zach returned home to Austin, and after a brief stint as a stone-yard forklift operator, he discovered Painting with a Twist. He continues to sing, dance, create, and share his love of life and art with his classes.
I was born and blessed to be raised in Austin and love this beautiful city, Town Lake and, even more so, the surrounding Hill Country. I enjoy being outdoors and getting artistic inspiration from the landscape around me. I consider myself lucky to be in such a lovely environment with lakes, parks and hiking trails at my fingertips. It is painting, exploring, traveling and photography that I love most. Give me a trickling creek bed, a glorious Texas sunset, a lazy drive through windy county roads covered in wildflowers in the Spring or the light of a brilliant campfire on a calm night in Fall and I’m happy to pull out my canvas to capture that striking scene. That’s what we’re here for! To inhale the settings around us. Even if that’s indoors with good friends, good music and a good glass of wine. Having each other’s company in a fun filled environment where memories are made and relationships are bonded. That’s what life is about. And that’s why I am so happy to be here at Painting With a Twist! I love to entertain, socialize, make people laugh and pull them out of their comfort zone to see their smiles light up upon producing a piece of art personally stamped with their own inner Da Vinci. I hold an Associate’s Degree in Art and get creative in my spare time as often as possible whether that is by capturing a landscape photo, decorating my home, creating wreaths, making artsy tile coasters or painting a portrait of my miniature schnauzer Pepper. Life is meant to be lived. This adventure should only be one of many!
I discovered my love for painting in high school and haven't put down my brush since! I love all things related to art and Painting with a Twist has given me a chance to work around something I love! When I'm not working, I am a student at UT Austin and will be graduating in May of 2018 with my degree in advertising. I love to go on long walks with my dog, Peyton, being outside, and drinking coffee!
