Valentine's Day arrives this coming Friday! Are you ready?
Or do you WANT to be ready, but is work getting in the way? Maybe you need some ideas -- something to ease the pressure.
This is our list of FIVE FUN FLIRTY things to do to turn this year's Valentines Weekend into a lasting, memorable experience.
Oh, yeah, we said weekend didn't we. Oops! Well, its not really "a thing", but we're after "fun" and "flirty" so that means making
it special. Besides, how much can you jam into a Friday evening after work?
OK, let's get started.
Number 1: Make Breakfast
It doesn't matter if you live together or separate -- in which case you are waking up early and traveling -- making breakfast for someone
is an incredibly effective way to someone's heart. Cooking, when done with love, is powerful. Bring a flower. Just one. Choose the flower
based upon where the relationship is at: early stages? chrysanthemum. moving towards serious? a stargazer lily. committed? a white rose
engaged or married? a red rose. One flower will do. Your magic comes from preparing breakfast, pouring the coffee and subtle touches on the shoulder.
Breakfast is flirty. A bit of fruit, some yogurt, toast, 2 eggs (you're being romantic) and some bacon. This is a path to the heart.
Number 2: Call before lunchtime to ask how his/her day is going -- because it matters to you
Let's face it. Workplaces can be loaded with crappy days. Having someone who means something call because s/he cares is priceless.
Plus it conveniently puts you in the right place to offer empathy and take the person's mind off of anything that isn't pleasant.
You are instantly the hero(ine).
Number 3: Book a dinner reservation -- for Sunday
OK, we can hear it. Whaaaatttt? Sunday?????? Yeah, because Sunday dinners are relaxed.
Look, Monday-Friday = work stress. Saturdays can be busy too. But Sunday is rest day for many.
People are automatically less stressed on Sunday and coupling that with a relaxed dinner makes for
a great, therapeutic experience. Make sure you bring your "A Game" for conversation. This is your
opportunity to engage deeply with the person you want to impress. And that means providing a good
conversation, but most importantly it means being the best listener . . . ever! Don't be so anxious to talk.
Listen instead. Ask questions. Seek opinions. Provide feedback. Make eye contact. Be fully present.
It doesn't get more flirty than that. (Is it suddenly getting hot in here? Asking for a friend. . . )
Oh -- and take small bites. Don't overload your fork or your mouth. You have to be ready to reply.
Number 4: Tidy Up -- The house, her apartment, his condo, yourself.
I'm busy. You're busy. He's busy. She's busy. We're all busy. And we all love to be comfortable.
Things don't get put away. We don't want to bother dressing neatly. Women let the leg hairs grow a bit.
Men let the beards get sloppy. Neat = caring and makes a statement. And it is flirty. Let's say a guy is always
wearing tee shirts and letting the beard get scraggly. But instead he makes an effort, puts on a polo shirt with a collar,
trims the beard and reshapes it, pops into the Barber and gets the hair coifed and puts the slightest bit of cologne behind his neck
(the slightest bit, not the equivalent of a neck bath) and then neatens up the apartment/condo/house. Hellooooo . . . this is caring.
It makes a super impression. It says, "you matter to me and I matter to you so I am going to impress you". How romantic!
Number 5: Have F U N ! Fun. Fun. Fun. Fun. Fun. . . together!
