Kyle is originally from Baird, Tx. He graduated from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, with a BFA in Photography. He belonged to the Big Country Art Association, and worked in the Painting with a Twist studio in Abilene while going to school. Kyle moved to Lubbock in September 2017 and started working with us as an Instructor/artist. He loves to paint and combine that with photography. He also paints using encaustics, which for us non-artsy people, that is painting with wax! Kyle says he began finger-painting at the young age of 1 year and not much of his technique has changed. His favorite thing about being an instructor at PWAT is getting to have daily “paint parties”, and teaching people that YES, you can paint! He wants our guests to always be relaxed and calm. take deep breaths, and don’t be stressed while painting. (He agrees that sips of wine helps with that relaxation as well). In his spare time, Kyle loves to read a good book, and always loves to go exploring in nature. He hopes you will join his classes, and have some paint fun!
Vanessa moved to Lubbock from the Dallas area, in January 2018. She joined the PwaT family in April of 2018 and is loving being an Instructor! Vanessa has a passion for watercolors, inking, art and animation. She has 2 years of graphic design and illustration experience, and has also done some public commissions. Vanessa describes herself as an aspiring Graphic Novelist. Her passion for art in general led her into looking for an art-related career. She likes to help people learn how to paint, and showing them that you don’t have to be a “Picasso” to make art. Her favorite advice are some quotes that we are all probably familiar with: “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff……Slow and Steady wins the Race….and it might not look like art right now, but it’s a process, and in the end, it turns out just fine”. Outside of working at Painting with a Twist, Vanessa enjoys reading, writing, and going to movies. She is a big Marvel Fan.
'B' for short, Baily joined our PWaT family back in January 2020. She is originally from Snyder, but has lived in Austin and San Antonio, before finding her home here in Lubbock. She has always been an artist at heart and learned to paint from her Aunt when she was very little. She grew up learning more from school art classes and by doing her own art on the side. It wasn't until high school and college that she discovered the art of photography, graphic design, and ceramics. She graduated from South Plains College in 2020 with her Associates Degree in Fine Arts and plans to transfer to Texas Tech. She has a passion for painting colors found in nature, and she finds the best colors come from sunsets, landscapes, and clouds. Baily sells her works on the side as well as doing custom commission pieces for others. Teaching people how to paint has become one of her most recent passions. She loves to see a person create and be proud of something that they weren't sure they could do in the first place. "Seeing that light spark in their eyes and hearing that little squeal of accomplishment has to be my favorite part of teaching a class." Baily believes every work of art is beautiful because each person puts a part of their soul into it: which makes it unique. She helps people work through the mistakes and challenges of each painting so they are able to take home a piece they love. When she is not painting or teaching, she loves spending time with her fur-babies, reading fiction-fantasy novels, and spending time outside. She likes to play disc golf in the park with her friends and loves to travel to new places. 'B' hopes to see you in class and is looking forward to getting artsy fartsy!
