About Your Painting Experience
What is Painting with a Twist?
Painting with a Twist is a fun, social painting experience where you can relax, enjoy your favorite drinks and snacks, and create your own artwork—all while being guided by a talented artist.
No painting experience is necessary! Our artists guide you step-by-step through the featured painting, and most of our guests are beginners. Don't worry about making your painting perfect—the goal is to have fun, get creative, and enjoy the experience!
Most classes use acrylic paint on a 16x20-inch canvas unless another surface or size is listed for the event.
Do I need to be good at painting?
Absolutely not! Our classes are designed for all skill levels, including complete beginners. Your artist will guide you through the painting step-by-step, so you can relax and enjoy yourself.
Your painting doesn't have to look exactly like the instructor's. It's your artwork, so make it your own!
How does a Painting with a Twist class work?
Start by checking our Event Calendar to choose the painting, date and time you'd like to attend.
Reserve your seat online or give us a call during office hours. When you arrive, your canvas and supplies will be ready for you.
Your artist will guide the class step-by-step through the featured painting. You are welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks and enjoy a fun, relaxed night out while you paint!
Can I paint something other than the scheduled painting?
Our scheduled paintings are designed for step-by-step instruction during the class.
You're welcome to paint your own creation instead, but the artist will be teaching the featured painting and will not be able to provide step-by-step instruction for a different design.
Pricing & Reservations
How much does a class cost?
Our pricing varies depending on the length of the class and the surface you'll be painting.
- 2-hour classes: $39–$49 per person
- 3-hour classes: $49–$59 per person
- Paint Your Pet: $59 per person
Prices may vary depending on the specific painting or surface.
Couples classes are priced per person, and both guests must purchase a seat.
Do I need a reservation?
Yes. Advance reservations and payment are required for all classes.
Some classes sell out, so we recommend reserving your seats as early as possible.
We prepare each station based on the number of registered guests. If a class has no reservations, the class may be canceled or the featured painting may be changed.
Making your reservation in advance also helps ensure that your group can sit together.
Can I just walk in?
Our classes take place at scheduled times, so we don't offer drop-in painting throughout the day.

How do I sign up a group for a public class?
There are two easy ways to register your group:
Option 1: Book together
Select the total number of seats your group needs and pay for everyone online.
Option 2: Book separately
Each guest can reserve their own seat. Have everyone use the same group name or point person's name in the Special Requests section—for example, "Sarah's Birthday Group" or "Dell Group."
This helps us identify your group and seat you together.
When will you offer my favorite painting again?
We rotate our paintings regularly, mixing popular favorites with new designs.
If there's a painting you'd love to see again, email us at northaustin@paintingwithatwist.com and let us know! While we can't guarantee a specific painting or date, we love hearing which designs our guests want to see again.
When do you post the monthly schedule?
Our calendar is typically posted by the 15th of each month for the following month.
Check our Event Calendar regularly for new paintings, special events and upcoming classes.
Food & Drinks
Can I bring my own drinks?
Yes! You're welcome to bring your favorite alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverages to enjoy while you paint.
We provide:
- Plastic 9-ounce cups
- Plates
- Napkins
- Bottle openers
You are welcome to bring a cooler. Please bring your own ice and any specialty cups, utensils or other items you may need.
Guests must be 21 or older to consume alcohol.
Can I bring food or snacks?
Absolutely! Light snacks and drinks are welcome during our regular classes and private parties.
If you're planning to bring a larger meal, pizza, cake or other food for a celebration, you may want to consider additional private-party time so your group doesn't feel rushed.
Parties & Private Events
How do I book a private party?
Private parties are a great way to celebrate birthdays, girls' nights, bachelorette parties, team events and other special occasions!
To check availability, call us during office hours or submit our Private Party Request Form.
A payment for 3 seats is required to reserve your private party.

What happens during a private party?
Private parties include 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after your scheduled painting time for your group to arrive, get settled and wrap up.
For example, if your painting is scheduled from 7:00–9:00 PM, your group has access to the room from approximately 6:30–9:30 PM:
- 6:30–7:00 PM: Arrive, get settled and enjoy your time together
- 7:00–9:00 PM: Step-by-step painting experience
- 9:00–9:30 PM: Finish up, take photos and wrap up your celebration
This gives your group some extra breathing room without feeling rushed.
Can I have extra time for my private party?
Yes. If your group is 25 or more guests, or if you'd like additional time for lunch, pizza, cake, presents or other activities, you can add extra party time.
Additional time is $30 per half hour, which can be added to the beginning or end of your party.
Our standard party time works well for light snacks and drinks.
Can I celebrate my birthday, bachelorette party or girls' night at Painting with a Twist?
Absolutely! Private parties are a fun way to celebrate with your favorite people, or you can simply gather your group and join one of our public classes.
Choose a painting everyone will enjoy, bring your favorite drinks and snacks, and let our artist take care of the instruction while you enjoy the celebration.
Do you host kids' parties?
Yes! We offer private kids' parties. Please contact the studio for information about available options and scheduling.
Ages & Guests
Can kids come to a Painting with a Twist class?
Our classes are designed primarily as an adult getaway and social experience.
- Most classes are open to guests 10 and older
- Friday and Saturday night classes are for ages 18+
- Younger children are welcome at designated All Ages classes
- Private kids' parties are also available

Is Painting with a Twist good for a date night?
Definitely! Our classes are a fun alternative to dinner and a movie. You and your date can enjoy a creative activity together, bring your favorite drinks and leave with artwork you've made yourselves.
For couples classes, both guests must purchase a seat, and pricing is per person.
What to Expect
Can I sit with my friends?
Yes! We love groups coming together.
The best way to make sure your group is seated together is to make your reservations in advance and let us know who you're with.
If everyone books separately, have each person use the same group name or point person's name in the Special Requests section.
Can I stop by anytime and paint?
Painting with a Twist classes are offered at specific scheduled times rather than as an open studio.
Visit our Event Calendar to find an upcoming class that works for you and reserve your seat online. You can also call us during office hours to register with a card.
Will my painting be dry before I leave?
Yes! Your painting should be ready to take home at the end of class.
We also have hair dryers available to help with any areas that may still be damp.
What should I wear?
Wear something comfortable that you don't mind getting paint on.
We provide aprons, but we recommend avoiding clothing you're especially concerned about. Wet acrylic paint can usually be treated with soap and water, but dried paint may not come out of clothing.
What size canvas will I paint?
The painting surface depends on the specific event. Our classes may include:
- 16x20-inch canvas
- 16x20-inch wood plank
- 10x30-inch canvas
- 10.5x26-inch wood plank
- 17-inch shiplap
- 12x12-inch canvas
- 11x14-inch canvas
The event listing will indicate the surface and size for that particular class.
How early should I arrive?
We recommend arriving 10–15 minutes before class begins.
This gives you time to check in, get your apron, grab a seat, get your drinks and snacks ready, and settle in before painting begins.
What if I'm late?
Our classes are taught step-by-step, so arriving late can make it difficult to catch up and can disrupt the experience for you and other guests.
Painting begins promptly at the scheduled time. If you arrive late, you may not be permitted to participate and may forfeit your payment.
Please plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early so you can relax and enjoy the full experience!
Cancellations & Refunds
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy, which is strictly enforced.
Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your scheduled class may receive store credit at the studio's discretion.
No refunds are given for no-call/no-shows. If an unexpected situation comes up, please leave us a voicemail or send us an email as soon as possible.
Private parties are subject to the cancellation and refund policies outlined on our Party Info page.
What happens if the studio has to cancel my class?
Occasionally, circumstances outside of our control may require us to cancel a class.
If we need to cancel your class, we will notify registered guests and provide either a gift certificate/store credit or a refund, as applicable.
