This Time, We Do the Painting for You!
If you've seen our Paint Your Pet classes before, this is something different. This is an artwork commission — NOT a class or event. Instead of coming into the studio to paint your own portrait, you would be commissioning one of our talented studio artists to create a custom acrylic painting of your pet just for you. Each portrait is individually hand-painted, making it a truly one-of-a-kind piece of artwork.
Choose from three canvas sizes:
12" x 12" — A fun square portrait perfect for smaller spaces, desks, shelves, or gallery walls.
11" x 14" — A classic portrait size and an excellent choice for gifts.
16" x 20" — Our statement size for when your favorite furry face deserves some serious wall space!
Each canvas includes one pet per portrait. Have a house full of pets? Commission one for each and create the ultimate pet gallery wall!

One of our favorite things about offering pet portrait commissions is that they give you another way to support the talented artists who make our studio special. These aren't mass-produced portraits ordered from a warehouse, and they're not simply printed from your photograph. A real artist from our Painting with a Twist Plano studio is sitting down with a canvas, brushes, and acrylic paint to create your portrait by hand.
Every commission supports our studio and creates more opportunities for our local working artists to use their talents outside of teaching classes. So when you purchase a Custom Pet Portrait, you get something personal while supporting a local small business and artists in your community.
How Does a Custom Pet Portrait Work?
We've made the process simple.
Step 1: Choose Your Canvas
Select your preferred 12x12, 11x14, or 16x20 canvas and purchase your commission online. Remember, only one pet is allowed per canvas portrait.
Step 2: Send Us Your Favorite Photo
Choose a clear, well-lit photograph that shows your pet's face, coloring, and unique features. Photos taken around your pet's eye level generally work best. Our artist needs to clearly see the little things that make your pet your pet.
Step 3: Tell Your Artist the Details
During checkout, use the Special Request box to tell us everything you'd like your artist to know. Here, you can request background colors, collar details, special markings, or other details you'd like included in the finished artwork. Please include your requests when placing your order so your artist has them before starting the painting process.
Step 4: Your Artist Reviews Everything
Before beginning your portrait, your artist will review your photograph and special requests. If we need a clearer photograph or additional information, we'll contact you before moving forward.
Step 5: We Paint Your Pet!
Then the fun part begins. One of our studio artists will use your photograph and requests as inspiration to create your custom acrylic pet portrait by hand. We'll complete your portrait within about one week of your order date.
Step 6: Preview Your Portrait
Before your artwork is finalized, you'll receive a preview. Your commission includes one correction request, giving you an opportunity to request an adjustment before we deem the portrait complete. Additional changes beyond the included correction may require an additional fee.
Step 7: Pick Up Your Masterpiece
Once everything is finished, we'll contact you and let you know your portrait is ready for pickup at our Plano studio. Then comes the hardest decision: Are you actually giving it as a gift...or keeping it for yourself?
