Painting with a Twist FAQ

Due to Covid-19, some policies may be different, please contact us directly if you need additional information, thanks!

Do I need to have painting experience?

Definitely not! Our classes are designed for people who have never painted in their life. In 2 or 3 hours, you will have had a fun experience and get to take home your own art masterpiece!

How much does a painting class cost?

2-hour canvas painting classes are $37; 3-hour classes are $45. All reservations must be paid at the time of booking.  Our canvases are 16x20.  There are a number of other surfaces available for some artwork, prices vary from $40-$45.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Yes. Every seat must be reserved and paid for in advance. Browse our Grapevine Painting Classes Calendar page and select a painting on a date that works for you, then sign up and pay on that page. Or, give us a call to request your favorite painting on a certain day. If your painting request sells out, you’ll win a gift certificate for a free painting class!

Can you accommodate groups or parties?

Yes! If your group has 10-45 people, you may book a private painting party. Please read our Party Info page for all the details.

If your group has less than ten people, you may bring your group into one of our regular public classes. Simply write in your reservation comments who you'd like to sit with. You may also call ahead to request a specific painting on an open date, and if your request sells out the class, you'll win a gift certificate for a free painting class!

Can I pick the painting for a class?

Yes. While everyone paints the same painting in each class, there are two ways you can choose the painting for everyone: 1. Book a private party, where the host always gets to decide the painting for their event; or 2. Request a painting by calling us with an open date and time that works for you and a few friends. To guarantee your painting request, simply pay for two RSVPs within one day of your painting appearing on our Event Calendar page.

Are kids allowed?

Most of our painting classes are for adults, age 18 and older. However, 15–17 year olds are welcome to regular classes except on weekend evenings. We occasionally offer painting classes for kids age 5 and up, and these are marked as “Family Friendly” on our Calendar. Children not painting, such as babies and toddlers, may not attend any class. All kids under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

What is provided?

We provide all art supplies, a local artist instructor, and basic party supplies, including: paints, paintbrushes,16x20 canvas, easel, apron, cups, plates, corkscrews, bottle openers, ice buckets, ice, wine chillers, and paper towels.

What should I bring?

You may bring any food or drink, including alcoholic beverages (BYOB). Your painting will thank you for it!

Where should I park?

You may park for free in the lot in front of our studio, on the street, or in any of the public lots nearby. The closest public lot is a half block west of our studio.

What are you doing to protect against the spread of COVID-19?

We offer online Zoom classes as well as in-studio classes. We use socially distanced seating, so all your belongings, snacks, and drinks are kept near your seat. We sanitize all counters, door handles, bathrooms, paintbrushes, and wash aprons after each class. Per our local government regulations, we have reduced our maximum room capacity and require everyone to wear a mask.

Will my painting still be wet when I leave?

Nope! We use fast-drying acrylic paint. If you have areas of thick paint that are still tacky after class, we have hair dryers to help them dry fast.

Do you offer refunds?

Refunds are given minus a $5 service fee for cancellations more than 48 hours in advance, or you may receive a studio credit for the full cost. Less than 48 hours notice will receive store credit. No-shows will not receive a refund or a credit. If we have to cancel class due to unforeseen circumstances, such as extreme weather, then everyone will receive a store credit.

How does your canvas buy-back program work?

The next time you make a paid reservation for a class in our studio, bring up to four of your previously painted PWAT canvases, and we will give you a $5 gift certificate value for each one. That means you can earn up to a $20 gift certificate! Only Painting with a Twist paintings qualify; however, they could have been painted at any Painting with a Twist location. Please note you cannot use this gift certificate to pay for a class on the same day you are turning in your canvases.

What do you do with the used canvases that you buy back?

These canvases will be painted over with white so they can be reused either as a donation to a local art school or by our artists for their example paintings.

Is your studio a corporate franchise?

No, we are an independently owned and operated local franchise of Painting with a Twist. When you paint with us, you help support Grapevine!
