Our Colorado Springs, CO - Downtown Painting with a Twist Artists

AJ

AJ

AJ joined the Painting with a Twist family back in the summer of 2014. After a few years of teaching part time at PWAT, working another full time job, doing commissioned art pieces and saving as much as she could... she was able to make her dream become a reality by opening her own Downtown PWAT Studio and became her own boss. “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life” -Confucius. A Few Fun Facts about AJ; Momma of two awesome boys, has a giant puppy named Dozer and is best friends and business partners with her hubby. AJ is a lover of all things "art", enjoys Improv, speaking in multiple (silly) accents & is absolutely terrible at remembering jokes & names. She’s left handed but of course… in her right mind and is the epitome of an “outgoing-introvert” You can check out some of her art on Instagram, but fair warning -between running a business and raising her kiddos... you likely wont see much new work at this time.

Cat

Dante

Dante

Dante's a self taught artist whos favorite mediums are acrylic paint and pencil. He would best describe his approach to art as chaotic and experimental, and loves to see all the ways he can utilize his supplies in new ways in his art. They love spending time outside in nature and drawing inspiration from the earth, but you can also find them gaming with friends, binging The Clone Wars, jamming on his ukulele, or cosplaying! He's always down to sing some musicals and talk about books, but will definitely not be winning any trivia nights. Dante's super passionate about art and it's the most important thing in his life, aside from his cat, Kiya, of course!

In addition to drawing and painting, Kate enjoys wheel throwing pottery, journaling, planning fun things to do with friends and going to concerts for any of the many, many bands and artists she enjoys. If she’s not focusing time on art and music, you can usually find her cuddling and enjoying time with her cat. Kate loves being around people, and her goal is to bring out the carefree, enthusiastic artist in everyone! “To be an artist is to believe in life.” – Henry Moore

Ricky

Ricky

After living the first half of her life in denial, Ricky has finally accepted that she is a multi-disciplinary artist. She is not a medical biller, a housewife, or a meandering dilettante like she had previously labeled herself. Ricky realized that she could no longer live a life that isn’t filled with creation and self-expression and that there is no Them (you know, THEM) out there that has to bestow upon her the title of “Artist” (pronounced ahr-teest with an air of snobbery). She HAS been granted (rightfully) the title of ADHDer, so it is no surprise that she experiments with many mediums. Ricky has (so far) found herself delighted with graphic design and digital art, sculpture, charcoal, and painting with watercolor, oil, and more recently acrylic. Sometimes she explores the concepts of loss, self, vulnerability, and the female experience. Sometimes she just likes to make interesting things. Ricky believes EVERYONE has the ability to be expressive and that art is neither good nor bad, it’s an essential part of the human condition. She strives to create a comfortable, supportive, and FUN environment where all her students can relax into the process and go home with something they’re proud of. She is also adept at pouring wine, opening beer bottles, mixing Mimosas, and handing out emotional support snacks. She’s got your back, homeskillet. Ricky’s current online portfolio focuses solely on graphic design, but she thinks a whole lot about updating and expanding it. She just hasn’t done it yet. Follow her there for the laughs, the tears, the digital emotional support snacks, and the art (duh).

Shantell

Shantell

Shantell is a self-taught Colorado Native. She started body painting in 2015 and started painting on canvases in 2022. “I have a lot of respect for art I would love to show and teach others the beauty of it”

Shay

Shay

Shay is a self taught artist who’s style varies on the day (highly dependent on the amount of coffee they’ve had). A little awkward but makes up for it with dad jokes and light demeanor. Huge animal fan so be prepared to talk about your pets. If not painting, you’ll find Shay playing with her dog, baking, or reading.

Tori

Tori

Tori is a Colorado-based artist who’s been making art her entire life. She received her BFA in Graphic Design and Studio Art from the University of Northern Colorado. Her work spans a spectrum of styles and mediums, merging traditional and digital techniques seamlessly. Lately, she is working with vibrant abstract watercolor paint combined with digital illustration. Her love for people is matched only by her adoration for her cats, plants and anime. Tori embarked on her journey with Painting with a Twist at the dawn of 2023. When she's not immersed in her artwork, Tori can be found running through fields, laying in the sun, and painting in the wild. Addicted to matcha. Expert potions master (soup and drink maker). Ask her about art history and she won’t stop talking. To see what she’s up to, visit her website,
