Our Pittsburgh, PA - South Side Painting with a Twist Artists

Jason - Studio Manager

Jason - Studio Manager

"I was born and raised in Brighton, Colorado. At a young age, I discovered my talent for creation as I sculpted action figures out of clay. After I grew out of action figures, I began to pick up new skills within the arts. In high school, I started developing a portfolio that later helped me earn an art scholarship to college. After graduation, I found PWAT and fell in love with the business! Being able to bring the joy of art to people in such a fun and relaxing way is such a blessing. Now, as the studio manager, I've developed an increased interest in entrepreneurship, combining what I've learned with my experience in art to help local artists reach their goals and run successful businesses. I'm dedicated to nurturing talent and fostering creativity within our community. Call me any time to learn more about Twist South Side or book an event with me!

Hi! I'm originally from a small beach town in Florida where I spent most of my time in various theatre productions before going to college, then law school. While I loved being on stage, I loved painting and building sets, creating props, and costuming just as much. I have always had a passion for the arts and have been a life-long lover of doodling, which eventually evolved into a passion for portraiture using as many mediums I could get my hands on, including charcoal, oil pastels, watercolor, and digital art. I found Twist South Side and quickly fell in love with painting, the staff, and the environment. I am so excited to be part of your artistic journey and show that art is for everyone!

Brittany

Brittany

Hello and welcome! My name is Brittany, and I’ve been a visual storyteller since I was a little girl. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where I’ve earned my Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts. I work with both traditional and digital canvases, and I’m deeply inspired by 2D animation, thriving on expressive movement, inspiring characters, and the freedom to choose your passions. At home, you can find me working on personal projects and digital commissions beside my polydactyl cat, Milo. I hope to encourage everyone to dream a little wider, reach for the stars, and return home safely with a smile.

Hi! I’m from Tunisia and have lived in Pittsburgh for over a decade and love being able to call this city my home. I have an extensive background in administrative banking in Institutional Asset Management, but ever since I can remember I’ve loved creativity of all kinds: painting, baking, sewing, crafting, and theatre. I love putting a piece of myself into everything I create and sharing that joy with others. Some fun facts about me: I’m trilingual, love a movie marathon, and got married in Vegas! Come on “dahn” to Twist SS and let’s create something together!

One of the first things I’m asked as an artist is, How long have you been an artist? I’d answer it like a question, Always? When do crayon scribblings turn into realistic drawings? When does a doodler become an artist? I’ve come to realize there never was a single point in time for me. I think the simple act of choosing to nourish my creativity is what makes me an artist, and by joining my class you are doing the same! My job is to make sure you feel Bob-Ross-relaxed and confident in yourself all the way to the end. No matter your skill level, I’m excited to see what you are capable of creating!

Sam

Sam

Hello! I’m Sam Ridgeway, and I’ve been creating art for as long as I can remember. I love working with my hands, especially painting and ceramics. I studied art at Tyler School of Art and Carlow University, and I’ve been teaching art in the school setting for the past three years. Currently, I’m a high school art teacher living just south of the city. I’m a big Pittsburgh fan, especially discovering new restaurants and gallery crawls around the city. I also have a cat named Jinx and consider myself a huge animal lover. When I’m not painting or teaching, you might find me curled up with a romance novel, baking something sweet, or exploring the city for new adventures. I’m so excited to paint with you and share a fun, creative experience!

Rachel

Rachel

Rachel is either an artist or possibly a few cats in a trench coat. She has been making art since she was first created but no one knows when that really was. Rachel received her bachelor degree in graphic design with an emphasis on illustration in 2011 from the now defunct Art institute of Pittsburgh, and worked in the design industry for a few years before pivoting to teaching and discovering how much she enjoys it. Warning: she will tell you weird facts about animals and science while you paint.
