Our Shelby Township, MI Painting with a Twist Artists
Jamie is our go to artist for all things anime! She started doing art as far back as she can remember- crafts, coloring books, drawing, and anything else she could get her hands on. She started taking it more seriously around 4th grade, when she started reading manga and trying to recreate her favorite illustrations. Since then she has attended art classes in high school, and is currently pursuing a degree in illustration at Macomb Community College. Jamie especially loves conceptual art and portraits, but her other passion is writing. She is currently working on 6 books and has made over 200 characters! Her favorite thing about working here at PWAT is being able to better her skills in order to eventually become a concept artist. Jamie loves being able to work somewhere using her skills as an artist, and we love having her at our studio!
Laura grew up in an artsy household, so she has always been creating art in some form or another since she was old enough to know not to eat the art supplies (although we still have to remind her sometimes)! She took private art lessons as a teen, and later earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Art Education at Wayne State University. She is currently an art teacher at an elementary school, but her first job was as a helicopter mechanic for the US Navy! Laura loves to paint landscapes and seascapes, and her favorite thing about working at PWAT is that she gets to do what she loves every day with people just like her. She is one of our original artists, and we love her energy and wacky sense of humor!
Kylie is our resident sweetheart! With her upbeat and positive spirit, she is always there to lend a helping hand to not only our fabulous artists in training (YOU!), but to her fellow PWAT co-workers as well. Her love of painting stretches back as far as she can remember and she began taking art classes at just 5 years old! Not only is she sweet and personable, but she’s one smart cookie too! Kylie has an Associate’s degree in fine art from Oakland University. She is a connoisseur of many things, but truly her aesthetic is ink and watercolor art. She also enjoys doing portraits of others. And when you don’t see this dynamo on stage displaying her first love of art, you just may catch this giggly and bubbly artist dancing through the streets to her second love: Taylor Swift.
Alex is our studio cheerleader! She has been doing art for as long as she can remember, and has always had a knack for it. Her favorite thing to paint is still life, although you should ask to see her painting of her gorgeous cat, Dolce. When Alex is not painting, you can find her at the movies or possibly at a Fetty Wap concert. Her favorite thing about working at Painting with a Twist is working with awesome people and getting to do what she loves to do every day!
At a very young age I was always painting and drawing. I always knew art would figure prominently in my life, professionally and personally. I studied at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, where I earned n my bachelor degree. Working at Painting with a Twist gives me that opportunity to do what I love, painting and being in a fun environment with energetic people. One of my favorite things about Painting with at Twist is seeing all the wonderful results when our students complete a painting and are so thrilled at what they have accomplished. When I'm not painting, my husband, son and I love to go camping, setting up and traveling the art shows in northern Michigan. Gardening is another passion, which is why painting florals is my favorite thing to paint along with landscapes. Guess I would consider myself a bit goofy at times, I try to be a positive reinforcer, looking for the positive spin on a situation.
I can be a quirky person! I try to be creative in everything I do. I have two amazing teenagers; my youngest, (13), has a rare genetic disease called Rett Syndrome. Rett had taken away my passion for painting for many years, resulting in me off the creative radar for almost 7-years, when I discovered PWAT, I found myself again. I also found a group of people who get me! Artist are on a different plane of perception, which some ‘left-brained’ folks cannot connect with most of the time. I have a Fine Arts degree from CCS-CAD, although I worked mostly in the Interior Design field before my daughter was diagnosed. The energy in the classes I teach/assist is always uplifting. I am blessed to have found this amazing company.
She was born knowing she was an artist, always creating from a young age. Tuesday is a professional photographer in her spare time. She enjoys both photographing and painting landscapes the most. She grew up in a small farming town in northern Michigan and still owns a tractor. She had a B. F. A. from Cental Michigan University. When she isn't painting you can find her binge watching Netflix and trying awesome new foods.
